If you are finding it a hard time to silence running thoughts chattering in your mind, and having trouble sitting in quiet time with a quiet mind, AND/OR you just cannot seem to sit focusing on your breathing the entire meditation, consider trying jogging. Yes, actually when a person participates in active physical movements (such as jogging, walking, running, swimming) for a set time, they are increasing their blood flow to the brain, and their body’s movements are brought to their attention.
Now, the key here, is actually breathing. When a person is jogging, they need to breathe in a faster pace, enough to keep up with the oxygen demand. During jogging, you can focus solely on breathing in and breathing out in a consistent manner. This is the first step. After a sufficient time, and you have reached your peak zone, you take it a step further, as you continue to focus on your breathing only and let your breathe sweep away any thoughts that are becoming formed. You can then imagine your breathe becoming light. That you are breathing in light. That this light is dissolving your ANTs (automatic negative thoughts), and that it is bringing in more energy to your body as you are continuing your jog.
In a short period of time, about 1-2mins after you have started envisioning your breathe as nourishing light, as you breathe the light in, and having it dissolve the dark areas, you may see yourself breathing in the light and feel it circulating throughout your blood vessels. Imagine it dissolving a “net-like” feeling at the area between your heart and belly button.
This light is the quality of pale shimmering aqua, liquid light. It has an “after-effect” view of pale golden light. Imagine it dissolving the chattering thoughts as it enters the center of your stomach and “splashing” and expanding throughout the nearby organs… the stomach, the spleen, the liver, the pancreas, the gallbladder, the kidneys, the heart, the throat, the intestines, the small intestines. And as you are breathing in, imagine this shimmering aqua-golden light entering through your mouth and nose as it enters into your lungs and brain and that it expands your stomach every time you breathe in.
Visualize it like an infrasound vibrating at the cellular level of your being, all the tense areas that desire more oxygen. Remember, you are still jogging as you are visualizing this. Visualize the shimmering pale aqua-liquid light cooling the “heated” tense areas of no oxygen and imagine breathing in the pale aqua light to those areas. Imagine it filling all areas of your body that feels like it “cannot” go on. And flood it with light energy. At the same time it is dissolving any “nets” in those areas that has been preventing it from receiving the light you are breathing.
Towards the end of your jogging journey, remember to drink plenty of water as the frequency of this pale silver shimmering aqua living-light waters is very high and may cause you to become more thirsty than usual. Take it easy on yourself, and I’ll see you on the next jog~
